Here is the meaning of the shloka:

Karagre Vasate Lakshmi: The word “Karagre” means “at the tip of the hand,” and “Vasate” means “resides.” Therefore, this line means “Goddess Lakshmi resides at the tip of my hand.”

Kar-madhye Saraswati: “Kar-madhye” means “in the middle of the hand,” and “Saraswati” refers to the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Thus, this line indicates that Goddess Saraswati resides in the middle of the hand.

Kara-Prabhodhini Gauri: “Kara-Prabhodhini” means “who awakens knowledge in the hand,” and “Gauri” is another name for Goddess Parvati, who is the consort of Lord Shiva. This line suggests that Goddess Gauri awakens knowledge in the hand.

Prabhate Kara Darshanam: “Prabhate” means “in the morning,” and “Kara Darshanam” means “seeing the hand.” This line indicates that one should look at their hands in the morning and think about the presence of the goddesses.

Benefits of reciting this shloka in the morning:

  1. Invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Gauri to bring wealth, knowledge, and wisdom.
  2. Setting a positive and auspicious tone for the day ahead.
  3. Focusing the mind and bringing clarity and concentration to one’s tasks.
  4. Recognizing the divine presence in oneself and the world around us.
