Namaste. In Sanskrit, it is mentioned that for every sound, we are using some specific part of our mouth. Like when we say A, B, C, D…., what are we doing? We are using just the throat. Lips, palate is not used. When you are using the word like Dha, Na, tongue is touching our teeth. and so the sound is produced.

Om Word

The sounds like Aum, can’t be produced without the lips touching each other or closing with each other. Word Om is very interesting. When you say Oh, you are using the throat. That is the root of the tongue is being used. And then you go ahead and say ma, you are ending at the lips. Now here the entire mouth cavity is used.

It’s a complete word by itself where you are using everything in one word, Om. Hence this Om word is considered as the base of all the sound primordial sound. When you start chanting Om peacefully, you will start feeling vibration in your body. You start it. Vibration begins from your Nabhi Chakra. And then the vibration is felt in Anahata Chakra.

Then it goes to Vishuddhi Chakra and then it goes to Ajna Chakra and then it goes to absolutely your head Sahasrara. When you keep your hand over here, you will feel vibration very nicely. If you close your ears and keep your hand over here, you can feel much, much stronger vibrations also. Om is the sound of everything.

Om – universal sound

It is a universal sound. Let’s see now how to chant the mantra. What is the right way of chanting this mantra? One, you can break down this Om into three a, o, and ma. This a, o, and ma, when spoken together, it is O.

So it is a, O and Mu Oh ah, is produced from the abdominal cavity from the naval region. So what does it signifies? It signifies the creation from the void, from nothingness. O is produced from this thoracic region, which signifies the journey between life and deaths. Closing your lips signifies the end, the mo Now.

Still, highest way of chanting OM would be in silence. You are not making any sound externally. You are just being inwards. You are just watching your breath. Your mind is very much into breath and very much into the vibrations. And you will notice that when you breathe in, you are actually using uh and oh.

And when you are breathing out, you are actually using the final thing, ma. So, Om, uh, Om, uh, you are actually going to your subconscious mind and then slowly to the root of your existence. So you start understanding your very existence. You start understanding this word. Who am I? What am I? Patanjali mentions Jap, tad, artha, bhavanam.

OM Chanting Benefits

  • Jap, go on repeating with its meaning and a feeling. a feeling of surrender, feeling that God is there within you and everywhere. So with that repeating OM is a very, very powerful mantra. Not only this. Om chanting has a self healing property too. Studies show that it can change your genetics and even heal your genes.
  • Apart from this, it can also have some physiological and psychological benefits too. Number one, it can clear your sinuses. The vibrations on your face will clear the blockages and conjections of your sinuses. Second, it improves your digestion. You are using your abdominal muscles while chanting and your abdomen becomes strong.
  • All this helps in efficient and proper digestion. Third, Om chanting can reduce stress and anxiety. Om chanting is meditative in nature, so it triggers the happy hormones, positive hormones in our body. So thereby it reduces depression and tension. Fourth, it helps in building up your immunity. Om connects you to the universal energy, and thereby it really improves your bioenergy.
  • Higher the bioenergy, better your immunity. Fifth, it develops concentration. this little small word, Om, how much benefit it has. It takes you to the cosmos in your own self, within yourself, in your subconscious.
  • It has benefits at all levels, at physical level, psychological level. It has a benefit at interpersonal level because you are very much positive and relaxed. You are secreting happy hormones, so your behavior also changes. Everything is always for good when you start using this word Om. chant Om 10 times at least in the morning and night.
  • You can increase this number more, but do at least that much and help yourself to become very much part of the world universe and stay happy, stay blissful.

Extended Side Angle Pose

Namaste everyone today we will do extended side angle pose. So extended means bodhitha in Sanskrit. Side means parsva. Kona means angle and asana means position. So here we will learn how to practice side angle pose and how to get into the side angle pose.

How to do extended side angle pose

  • So let’s get started. So find any comfortable sitting position. So we’ll start with mantra chanting. So close your eyes.
  • Now slowly, open your eyes. So, first go to the Shashankashin. So, modern term is called Child Pose Balashin. But traditionally, it’s called Shashankashin. So knees open, hips apart. And maintain your hands active and straight. So walk your hands more front, as far as you can, without lifting your hips. So for resting down,
  • so we’ll do first the mountain pose, Parvatasana. So Parvatasana is also the base position. To get to the side angle. So first base position is Samasthiti. From standing position, you take one leg back and do side angle. Now, we are doing from the mountain pose. So look front, press your palms, come onto your knee and then tuck your toes, back to the downward facing.
  • So in mountain pose, so feet together, so mount, do mountain pose. So feet together, legs together, maintain your hands active and keep, lift up your spine by tilting your pelvis up. Now inhale, look front, and lean forward, and take your right leg front between your palms, and turn your back foot out. So when you’re turning your back foot out, your heel and your back inner arch of the foot is going to be in line automatically.
  • That’s why it’s, uh, For me, it’s the best way to get the side angle pose. So, place your hands outside of your right palm, right outside of your right foot, and check your front leg first. Make sure your knee, thigh, and hip should be in straight line, and your knee, any second vector in line. So, most of the people, they are doing this.
  • The hip is pushing back, knees is popping forward. So, the purpose is not to go deeper. So before going deeper, maintain your front leg aligned. So you can use block. So place the block outside of your right foot. Now you can see the right knee is popping this way and my hip is pushing this way. So I’m pushing the right knee back towards the elbow.
  • And I’m pushing the right hip forward. Now you can see my right thigh is parallel, 90. Now, from here, maintain the back leg active, and draw the left hip back. So we have to open the pelvis here in this position. So it’s an open pelvis posture, hip opening posture. Now, my front leg is in line, back leg is in line.
  • And then left hand over the head close to the ear. So in side angle pose, you’re left outside of your foot and for the tip of the fingers to be in a straight line, then you’ll feel the stretch the side of the legs. So this is a side angle pose. So sometimes for beginners, most of the people, they are popping the knees forward.
  • So best way, you just place your hands inside your right foot. Now your right knee is not popping forward because of your hand. So you can push the right knee back with your right upper arm or the elbow and do this first. Or if it’s hard to go deeper, you can place your forearm on your right side, left hand up.
  • And then, slowly back to the mountain pose. Parvatasana.
  • Keep breathing here, longer and deeper.
  • Now, we’ll change the, change the position, changing, by changing the legs. So, take the left leg front, and turn your back foot out. Now, when you’re turning your back foot out, don’t come up all the way. You have to check your alignment, how’s your legs. Is it front knee in line with your second toe? Is it your thigh parallel or not?
  • Is it your hip and your knee in straight line or not? So now first align this, and then place your hand and chest open. So maintaining your front leg stable now when you align it. And then draw the right hip back. Now here you have to open your pelvis. If you are in, if you are going deeper, then it’s hard to open your pelvis.
  • So you can use block or either you can place your forearm on your left thigh and then rotate your right hip without disturbing your family in line and then write him above close to the.
  • So this is a side angle pose.

Extended side angle pose variation

  • We can do with other variation. Your right hand goes back and catch your left side. So this action will help you to open the chest. Open the chest area.
  • Or if you want a more intense way you can do baddha hastha. So your left hand goes underneath your left thigh and rotate it back. and catch your wrist and keep turning the chest. So it’s called Baddha Hasta Parsva Konasana. And then slowly come back, back to the mountain pose, Parvatasana. Sitting bone higher,
  • Inhale and as we exhale do the eight limbs pose. Now we’ll do the eight limbs. In the name of the Lord, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

In Yantras and Mandalas we find some similarity with the chakras, and their symbols.

Yantras And Mandalas is Sanskrit for circle and centre.

The Concise Oxford Dictionary definition reads: “Symbolic, circular figure, as a religious system of the Universe. Such symbol, in dream, representing (the) dreamer’s search for completeness and self unity.”

The poet William Blake wrote:

“The vegetative universe opens like a flower from the earth’s centre, in which is eternity.” “To see a World in a grain of sand, And Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an Hour”

A Mandala has three properties:

  1. Centre
  2. Symmetry – sometimes fluid in form
  3. Cardinal points – sometimes pictorial

It can be composed from many substances, for example, metal, wood, skin, stone, paper,
silk, or coloured powder, in a design on the ground. ‘Rose’ windows, Celtic designs, are
examples in Western culture.

PURPOSE
UNITY OF SELF WITH THE UNIVERSE This is effected by concentration on the form. This concentration has different cultural interpretations. An Internal Meditation on Mandala The eye is a Mandala form. A circle, the sun, a light, the light within. The eyes (when closed) become like a single
lens, reflecting the light within. Try this, keeping the forehead high and wide, visualising
your own iris.

Yantra

This is a geometrical composition, the whole or part of which is contained in a circle.
It is a power diagram. One has to recognise the power in each form and its interaction. It
is used in the Tantric tradition and the Chakras have geometric symbols which are used
to bind and absorb the mind.
The Yantra has four properties:

  1. The centre point, ‘bindu’
  2. Symmetry, but sometimes surrounded by mandalas
  3. Triangle or a square, contained in a circle
  4. Use of sound, internal or external

COMPOSITION
It can be of paper, silk, a ground plan or a building
itself.

Purpose of Yantra

Use a Yantra to tune in to the power of the universe and awaken your inner power. This form of meditation is very powerful in focusing the mind. It is not suitable for thos with mental instability, as it can become hypnotic. This type of Yoga is not taught in the West in its full form, as it is a very difficult path to follow. However, we may benefit from a simplified form. There are sometimes reverse colours or movements seen in the design, this is a normal physiological response and has the effect of stilling and focusing the mind away from the external. This is not an end in itself. To get addicted to this level is not healthy, it is simply to give an initial impetus to the concentration.

The most famous Yantra is the Sri Yantra. The practitioner needs to have mental stability or be within a firm spiritual tradition. It can appeal to the creative, mathematical and
mystical in people as these are archetypal forms. Many religious buildings are built using Yantra and Mandala as the foundation layout.
The study of Yantra and Mandalas can give us aesthetic pleasure and bind our minds.

You may be able to think of other traditional or western forms for yourself.

What does Yantra mean?

Apart from invoking divine, the Yantras are also used by sadhaks as an object of
meditation, as some paint huge yantra on walls of temples or a place where one
can seat silently and concentrate on the same.
The study of Yantra is an important step in the journey of particular siddhi for some
sadhaks.

Shri Navagraha Yantra

list of 9 yantras

  • Surya / Sun Yantra.
  • Chandra / Moon Yantra.
  • Mangal / Mars Yantra.

  • Guru / Jupiter Yantra.
  • Shukra / Venus Yantra.
  • Shani / Saturn Yantra.
  • Rahu Yantra
  • Ketu Yantra.

We all have questions on Yantra – Tantra – Mantra- or be any occult field we are into.

  • Do these Yantras work. Does Yantra have an good and godly impact on us.
  • Are the Yantra we see now a days effect us in any way.
  • Does Yantras have super beneficial powers to control or eradicate our problems or to sustain our current situation or to improve our current scenarios.

The Answer is YES

The post The 9 most popular myths and misconceptions about Kundalini yoga appeared first on .

]]>
1: A Kundalini Yoga Awakening Is So Rare That It Happens

Only Once or Twice in Your Lifetime:

This is not true. The Kundalini Awakening isn’t a one time thing, it’s actually a permanent and lifelong experience and condition. When you have a Kundalini awakening, it is a permanent sensation and experience that can be reactivated over and over again, not only through Kundalini yogic practice, but through living out its principals in your daily life. Even if you do not ac- tively feel the Kundalini awakening sensations or feelings, even if it seems like it is in a period of dormancy, you are actually still quite aware of it (and arguably, it is very much active, it’s just bubbling under the surface in a more quiet way, and not so explicitly).

Kundalini is a dynamic, boundless sensation and experience that ebbs and flows, it does not occur once or twice and never returns. Once you experience it, you have it activated and active in you for forever.

2: Only a Guru or Teacher Can Awaken Your Kundalini

This is also simply not true and defies the principals of Kundalini. Kundalini is valued as a universal, human right and experience that everyone can ac- cess and is encouraged to access to transform their lives and the lives of everyone around them.

The idea that Kundalini can exclusively be awakened with the sole aid of a teacher or Guru is offensive and directly rejects the teachings and values of Kundalini. This myth is rather popular and is fre- quently perpetuated in the Western spiritual community because it is an easy way to make money.

It should be considered a scam if anyone claims that ei- ther: 1) they, as a teacher or Guru can awaken your Kundalini; or, 2) you can only awaken your Kundalini through the aid of hiring a teacher or Guru to do so for you. Anyone or any spiritual community making such claims should be told otherwise that this is a corrupt belief that offensively conflicts with what Kundalini is all about.

3: Any Body Twitches, Quirks, or Itchiness is Awakening Kundalini

The Kundalini awakening symptoms are the most popular aspects of Kun- dalini that many recently awakened Kundalini students and Kundalini curious alike are solely interested in learning more about. There are a lot of miscon- ceptions about what physical and emotional sensations are just normal sensations versus unique symptoms that are typical of a Kundalini awak- ening. As a result, common twitches, itching, or spontaneous movement is often misclassified as a symptom of Kundalini awakening.

We take our ner- vous and muscular systems for granted sometimes. Also, when we are prac- ticing or interested in Kundalini, there is such a heightened focus on being very in-tune and aware of our bodies, and therefore, we need to remove our desire to over-analyze and over think that every sensation is indicative of a Kundalini awakening: sometimes they are just normal functions of the human body.

4: Kundalini Can Be Awakened Through Reiki

This is a popular myth that many Reiki Masters incorrectly claim. Just  because Reiki deals with the organic movement and rebalancing of energy in and throughout the body, many believe that Kundalini is a part of this tradi- tion and practice. This is absolutely not true.

Although Reiki is also a beau- tiful practice and experience that can be a stepping stone for someone to be interested in how other energy awakening and energy based techniques like Kundalini, can help themselves and others, Reiki and Kundalini are two com- pletely different traditions that have nothing to do with the other. Reiki is a healing modality that balances energy throughout the body and space-time that can only be conducted by an attuned practitioner but received by anyone. Kundalini, on the other hand, is a unique experience that is felt through a se- ries of intense sensations that can be activated through physical movement, mantras, meditations, and breathing techniques. Reiki and Kundalini are completely different and are not related.

5: Kundalini Can Be Awakened Through Yoga

Kundalini is an experience that may or may not happen through the inten- tional and sacred use and practice of the various modalities such as yoga, meditation, mantras, mudras, chanting, and breathing techniques. Each of these modalities must be present in the sacred sequence they appear in order to help ignite the Kundalini within. Although the yoga poses are a part of the Kundalini practice, they alone do not guarantee that Kundalini will be awakened or present.

6: Kundalini Is Actually a High

Kundalini awakenings are hard to describe and are often misappropriated as a feeling of being high, as if you were on a drug. Although there is a feeling of unrestricted bliss, these feelings are fleeting and few and far between. What really happens is that the body stores a tremendous amount of psychic and emotional energy in our body: trauma, emotions, thoughts, beliefs, grief, sad- ness. When they are all touched and activated through Kundalini, these in- tense emotions are popped like a balloon and the resulting “gas” is leaking everywhere throughout our body, making us feel every sensation at the same time while our physical body is release all of this. This isn’t the same as the sensations that someone may experience under the use of drugs: this is actu- ally more similar to the type of emotional release one may feel during a peak performance in a sport.

7: Kundalini Can Awaken in Any Chakra

This is incorrect and the Kundalini yoga teachings directly negate this false belief. Kundalini starts at the base of the spine, with the first chakra, the root chakra. The serpent coils upwards, not downwards. The Kundalini, before awakening, lies in a coiled, dormant state in the root chakra. There is no other chakra that it can originate in. This information is in the sacred and ancient texts and teachings of Kundalini.

8: Kundalini Can Be Controlled

There is absolutely no way that Kundalini can be controlled. The effects of Kundalini may be inconvenient to many, especially because they are so in- tense and may cause a disruption in your daily life – therefore, there is under- standably an attempt to create a fake market of teachers and teachings that claim that Kundalini can be controlled and stopped. This simply isn’t true or even possible! All of the feelings, sensations, and memories that rise up from a Kundalini awakening exist to serve a higher good and purpose to elevate ourselves and others. This is a force that is meant to awaken, not be stopped. It actually is impossible to stop it.

9: Kundalini Awakenings Can Be Stopped

Just like the above claim that Kundalini can be controlled, this is also a very false claim from the same idea. Kundalini cannot be stopped.

Exploring Singing Bowl Tones, Frequencies and Sound

Introduction of Singing bowls:

Singing bowls, also known as Tibetan singing bowls or Himalayan bowls, have captivated the world with their mystic resonance and therapeutic qualities. These ancient instruments have a profound impact on our well-being, both physically and spiritually. In this blog post, we will delve into the fascinating world of singing bowl tones and frequencies, exploring their history, significance, and the therapeutic effects they offer.

The Origins and Evolution of Singing Bowls:

Singing bowls have a rich history dating back to ancient times, originating primarily in the Himalayan region, including Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and India. Initially crafted for religious and spiritual rituals, their usage has expanded to include meditation, healing, and sound therapy. These bowls are typically made from a blend of metals, often referred to as “bell metal,” which includes copper, tin, zinc, iron, silver, and gold.

Understanding Singing Bowl Tones and Their Significance:

Singing bowls produce a range of tones, and each tone has its own unique frequency and significance. The fundamental tone is the primary and most prominent pitch that a singing bowl produces when struck or rubbed. Overtones, on the other hand, are higher-frequency tones that accompany the fundamental tone, creating a rich, complex sound. The combination of these tones is crucial in influencing the therapeutic effects of the singing bowl.

Fundamental Tone: The fundamental tone of a singing bowl is associated with the specific chakra or energy center it resonates with. For instance, a lower fundamental tone may resonate with the root chakra, promoting grounding and stability.

Overtones: The overtones or harmonics produced by singing bowls influence the overall sound and vibration. They can affect multiple chakras simultaneously, creating a harmonious and balanced resonance within the body.

Meditation and Visualization: During chakra meditations, practitioners often visualize or surround themselves with the corresponding chakra color while chanting or focusing on the associated sound. This helps in activating and balancing the chakra.

Sound Therapy: Practitioners also use specific musical notes or singing bowls that produce frequencies matching the chakra’s associated sound to help balance and align the chakras. The vibrational energy of these sounds is believed to influence the chakras positively.

Understanding the relationship between chakra colors and sounds allows individuals to engage in practices that aim to balance and harmonize their chakra system, leading to an overall sense of well-being and spiritual growth. It’s essential to approach chakra work with an open mind and combine it with other holistic practices for a comprehensive wellness approach.

Introduction of Spiritual Therapies:

In an increasingly fast-paced and stressful world, many individuals seek solace, meaning, and healing beyond the realm of conventional therapies. They turn to spiritual therapies, a holistic approach that acknowledges the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit. This blog will delve into the world of spiritual therapies, exploring various modalities that help individuals nourish their souls, find inner peace, and embark on journeys of self-discovery.

Understanding Spiritual Therapies

Spiritual therapies, often referred to as spiritual counselling or guidance, are therapeutic approaches that embrace spirituality as an integral part of healing and personal growth. These therapies recognize that humans are not just physical and psychological beings but also possess a profound spiritual dimension. Let’s explore some of the key spiritual therapies in depth:

1. Mindfulness and Meditation

Mindfulness and meditation are powerful spiritual therapies that have gained immense popularity in recent years. Rooted in ancient Eastern traditions, these practices emphasize being fully present in the moment, cultivating self-awareness, and connecting with one’s inner self.

Meditation involves various techniques, such as focused breathing, mantra repetition, and visualization, to quiet the mind and promote inner peace. Mindfulness, on the other hand, encourages individuals to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of their inner world.

Through consistent practice, individuals can experience reduced stress, increased emotional regulation, and a heightened sense of spiritual connection. These therapies not only provide a refuge from the chaos of daily life but also open the door to profound spiritual experiences and personal growth.

2. Yoga Therapy

Yoga, an ancient practice originating in India, goes beyond physical postures and breath control. Yoga therapy is a holistic approach that combines physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions to promote overall well-being.

The physical postures, known as asanas, enhance flexibility and strength while also balancing energy centres (chakras) within the body. Pranayama, or breath control, calms the mind and nourishes the spirit. Meditation and mindfulness techniques are integrated into yoga sessions to facilitate spiritual growth.

Yoga therapy helps individuals connect with their inner selves, fostering a sense of unity with the universe. It serves as a path to self-discovery, enabling individuals to explore their spiritual beliefs and values. Through regular practice, yoga therapy can lead to a state of balance and harmony, both physically and spiritually.

3. Prayer and Spiritual Rituals

For many, prayer and spiritual rituals are central to their spiritual journey and therapeutic process. These practices offer a way to connect with a higher power or the divine, seeking guidance, solace, and a sense of purpose.

Prayer can take various forms, including structured religious prayers, spontaneous conversations with the divine, or silent contemplation. Spiritual rituals, such as lighting candles, making offerings, or participating in religious ceremonies, create a sacred space for spiritual exploration.

Engaging in prayer and spiritual rituals as part of therapy can provide comfort during challenging times, strengthen one’s sense of identity and belonging, and foster a deeper connection to one’s spirituality. These practices allow individuals to draw on their faith and belief systems as sources of strength and resilience.

4. Energy Healing

Energy healing modalities, such as Reiki and Healing Touch, operate on the belief that the human body has an energy field that can be manipulated to promote healing and balance. These therapies tap into the concept of vital life force energy, known as qi or prana, which flows through the body.

Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel this energy, helping to remove blockages and restore balance to the recipient’s energy field. Healing Touch involves gentle touch and energy techniques to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Energy healing therapies like Pranic Healing, Sound Healing and Reiki can provide a profound sense of relaxation and spiritual connection. Many individuals report experiencing sensations of warmth, tingling, or emotional release during sessions. By clearing energetic blockages, these therapies aim to support physical and spiritual well-being.

5. Art and Music Therapy

Art and music therapy are creative modalities that can foster spiritual growth and self-discovery. These therapies tap into the expressive power of art and music to facilitate healing and inner exploration.

Art therapy encourages individuals to create visual art as a means of self-expression. This process can unveil hidden emotions, provide insight into one’s inner world, and serve as a form of meditation.

Music therapy involves using music to address emotional, cognitive, and physical needs. Music can evoke powerful emotions and memories, making it a potent tool for self-reflection and spiritual exploration.

Engaging in artistic or musical expression can help individuals access their inner selves, release pent-up emotions, and connect with their spirituality. These therapies provide a unique avenue for individuals to explore their spiritual journey.

6. Nature-Based Therapies

Nature has long been regarded as a source of spiritual inspiration and healing. Nature-based therapies, including eco therapy and wilderness therapy, harness the therapeutic power of the natural world.

Eco therapy involves spending time in natural settings, engaging in activities like hiking, gardening, or simply sitting in nature. This reconnects individuals with the Earth and fosters a sense of interconnectedness with all living things.

Wilderness therapy takes individuals into remote natural environments, where they confront challenges and experience personal growth. The wilderness serves as a backdrop for spiritual reflection and self-discovery.

Both forms of nature-based therapy offer opportunities for individuals to find solace, gain perspective, and tap into the restorative power of the natural world. Nature can be a powerful catalyst for spiritual growth and healing.

7. Breathwork

Breathwork is a therapeutic approach that focuses on conscious control of the breath to access altered states of consciousness and facilitate spiritual experiences. Various breathwork techniques, such as Holotropic Breathwork and Transformational Breath, aim to clear emotional blockages, release trauma, and promote spiritual growth.

During a breath work session, participants engage in controlled breathing patterns, often accompanied by music or sound. This controlled breathing can induce altered states of consciousness, leading to profound spiritual insights and emotional release.

Breath work can be a deeply transformative experience, allowing individuals to access hidden aspects of their psyche and connect with their inner selves. It is often used as a tool for personal growth, healing, and spiritual exploration.

8. Guided Imagery and Visualization

Guided imagery and visualization are therapeutic techniques that involve using mental imagery to enhance relaxation, healing, and spiritual exploration. In guided sessions, individuals are led through a series of images and scenarios designed to elicit specific emotional and spiritual responses.

These practices can help individuals visualize their goals, overcome challenges, and tap into their subconscious mind. Guided imagery can also be used to explore spiritual themes, such as connecting with one’s inner wisdom or envisioning a desired spiritual path.

By engaging the imagination and creating mental images, individuals can enhance their sense of empowerment, reduce stress, and deepen their spiritual connection. These techniques can be powerful tools for self-discovery and spiritual growth.

Conclusion

Spiritual therapies offer a diverse array of approaches to healing and personal growth, catering to the multifaceted dimensions of human existence. Whether through mindfulness and meditation, yoga therapy, energy healing, or other modalities, individuals can find solace, wisdom, and a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the universe.

The journey of spiritual exploration is a deeply personal one, and each individual may resonate with different spiritual therapies. The key is to remain open to the possibilities, embrace the practices that align with your beliefs and needs, and allow them to guide you on a path of healing, transformation, and spiritual awakening. May your spiritual journey be one of profound growth, peace and enlightenment?

Misconceptions about Yogis

Separating Fact from Fiction

Yoga, an ancient practice that originated in India, has gained immense popularity worldwide for its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. Central to this practice are yogis, individuals who have dedicated their lives to mastering the art of yoga. However, over the years, misconceptions and stereotypes about yogis have arisen, often fuelled by media portrayals and cultural misunderstandings. In this blog, we will explore and debunk some of the most common misconceptions about yogis, shedding light on the reality of their lifestyles and the true essence of yoga.

Misconception #1: Yogis Are Mystical and Have Supernatural Powers

One of the most prevalent misconceptions about yogis is that they possess supernatural powers and are capable of performing miraculous feats. This notion is perpetuated by movies, books, and exaggerated stories. While yoga can lead to extraordinary physical and mental abilities, it is crucial to differentiate between the exceptional skills some yogis develop and supernatural powers.

In reality, yogis are ordinary individuals who have dedicated themselves to rigorous and disciplined practices. Through years of dedication, they may achieve impressive physical and mental feats, such as extreme flexibility, heightened awareness, or exceptional breath control. These achievements are the result of consistent practice and are not supernatural.

Misconception #2: Yogis Renounce All Material Possessions

Another common misconception is that yogis renounce all material possessions and live as ascetics, detached from the material world. While it is true that some yogis choose a simple and minimalist lifestyle, not all follow this path. Yoga philosophy offers various paths to self-realization, and renunciation is just one of them.

Many yogis lead normal lives, balancing their spiritual practices with familial responsibilities, careers, and modern amenities. Yoga teaches balance and harmonise, not necessarily the complete rejection of material possessions. The goal is to find inner peace, joy and contentment, whether one lives a minimalist lifestyle or not it’s completely on them.

Misconception #3: Yogis Are Always Calm and Serene

Yogis are often depicted as individuals who are always calm, serene, and free from anger or negative emotions. While yoga does promote inner peace and emotional stability, it does not mean yogis are immune to human emotions. They experience the full range of emotions, just like anyone else.

The key difference lies in how yogis manage their emotions. Through yoga and meditation, they develop techniques to remain centred and cultivate emotional resilience. They may be better equipped to handle stressful situations, but they are not devoid of emotions.

Misconception #4: Yogis Can Meditate for Hours without Distraction

Meditation is a fundamental aspect of yoga, and it is often assumed that yogis can effortlessly meditate for hours without any distractions. In reality, meditation is a skill that requires practice and patience. Even experienced yogis face challenges and distractions during their meditation sessions.

Yogis develop the ability to focus their minds through consistent practice. However, achieving deep states of meditation is a gradual process that can take years of dedicated effort. Distractions are a natural part of the meditation journey, and yogis learn to work with them rather than eliminate them entirely.

Misconception #5: Yogis Are Always Strict Vegetarians

Yoga philosophy emphasizes ahimsa (non-violence) and encourages a vegetarian diet as a means of reducing harm to other living beings. While many yogis choose to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, it is not a strict requirement for all practitioners.

Dietary choices among yogis can vary widely, and some may include animal products in their diet while still maintaining a strong commitment to yoga principles. Yoga encourages mindful eating and listening to one’s body, and dietary choices should align with an individual’s ethical and health considerations.

Misconception #6: Yogis Are All Celibate

Another misconception that has persisted is the belief that all yogis practice celibacy or are celibate monks (They do not marry). In reality, celibacy is just one of many possible paths within the yogic tradition, and it is not a universal requirement for all practitioners.

Yoga acknowledges that individuals have different paths to self-realization, and celibacy is a choice made by some but not all. Some yogis may choose to marry and have families, while others embrace celibacy as a means of deepening their spiritual practice. It is essential to respect and honour these diverse paths and not impose a single stereotype on all yogis.

Ultimately, the yogic path is about individual growth, self-discovery, and self-realization. The choices one makes regarding celibacy or relationships should align with their personal journey and aspirations. It is essential to respect these diverse paths and not impose a one-size-fits-all stereotype on yogis.

Misconception #7: Yogis Are Anti-Social or Reclusive

Yogis are often portrayed as hermits or recluses who withdraw from society. While some yogis do choose a more solitary lifestyle to focus on their practice, it is not the only way to pursue yoga’s spiritual goals.

Many yogis actively engage with their communities, teach yoga classes, and contribute to society in various ways. Yoga teaches interconnectedness and compassion, and many yogis strive to share the benefits of yoga with others, promoting a more inclusive and social approach to the practice.

Conclusion

Misconceptions about yogis have persisted for generations, largely due to cultural stereotypes and sensationalized portrayals in the media. It is crucial to distinguish between these misconceptions and the authentic principles and experiences that define the yogic path.

Yogis are not mystical beings with supernatural powers, but individuals who have dedicated themselves to disciplined practice and self-realization. They are not immune to human emotions but have developed tools to navigate them effectively. Their meditation practice is not free from distractions but is a continuous journey of focus and self-discovery. They may follow a vegetarian diet, but dietary choices can vary. Celibacy is a choice for some yogis, but not a requirement for all. Lastly, yogis are not universally reclusive; many actively engage with their communities.

By debunking these misconceptions, we gain a deeper understanding of the true essence of yoga and the diverse paths that yogis choose to follow. Whether leading a simple or conventional life, yogis share a common commitment to inner peace, self-awareness, and the promotion of well-being for themselves and others. Recognizing these truths allows us to appreciate the multifaceted nature of yoga and the individuals who embark on this transformative journey.

Introduction of Sound Healing Therapy

In a world filled with the noise of modern life, finding moments of tranquility and balance can be a challenging endeavor. Sound Healing Therapy, an ancient practice that has resurged in popularity in recent years, offers a harmonious path to well-being. This therapeutic approach leverages the profound impact of sound vibrations on our physical, mental, and emotional states. In this 1500-word blog, we will delve into the fascinating realm of sound therapy, exploring its history, science, and the myriad ways it can promote healing and relaxation in our hectic lives.

A Sonic Odyssey through History

Sound Healing Therapy is by no means a new phenomenon; its roots extend deep into history. Ancient civilizations across the globe recognized the profound influence of sound on human consciousness. From Aboriginal didgeridoos to Tibetan singing bowls, these cultures harnessed the power of sound for various healing and spiritual practices.

Ancient Wisdom and Sound

One of the earliest recorded uses of sound for healing comes from the ancient Greeks. Pythagoras, the renowned mathematician and philosopher, is often credited with the discovery of the mathematical principles underlying musical harmony. His work laid the foundation for understanding the therapeutic potential of sound.

Sonic Healing in Eastern Traditions

Eastern cultures, too, have a rich tradition of using sound for healing. In India, the practice of Nada Yoga involves the use of sound, particularly through chanting and mantra meditation, to achieve mental and spiritual harmony. Similarly, Tibetan monks have used singing bowls for centuries to induce deep states of relaxation and meditation.

The Science of Sound Healing Therapy

Sound therapy is not merely a mystical or esoteric practice; it has a solid foundation in science. Understanding how sound affects the human body and mind is essential to appreciate the therapeutic potential it holds.

The Physiology of Sound

Sound waves are mechanical vibrations that travel through a medium, like air or water, and interact with our ears, converting into electrical signals that our brain interprets as sound. The study of this process is known as psychoacoustics.

Brainwave Entrainment

Sound therapy can influence brainwave activity. By exposing the brain to specific frequencies, therapists can induce various states of consciousness, such as relaxation or heightened focus. This process is known as brainwave entrainment and is a key mechanism behind the effectiveness of sound therapy.

The Instruments of Healing

Sound therapy utilizes an array of instruments, each with its unique sonic qualities, to achieve therapeutic results. Here are some of the most popular ones:

Tibetan Singing Bowls

These beautifully crafted bowls, made of a blend of metals, produce resonant and soothing tones when struck or rubbed with a mallet. The vibrations of singing bowls can promote deep relaxation and meditation.

Crystal Singing Bowls

Crystal singing bowls are made of quartz crystal and produce pure, clear tones. They are believed to have a cleansing and balancing effect on the chakras, the energy centers in the body according to Eastern traditions.

Gongs

Gongs emit powerful, reverberating sounds that can create a profound sensory experience. The vibrations of gongs are said to release tension and promote a sense of tranquility.

3 Diffrent Way of Sound Healing Therapy Practice

Now that we’ve explored the history, science, and instruments of sound therapy, let’s dive into how this therapy is applied in practice.

Sound Baths

A sound bath is a group meditation session where participants lie down and immerse themselves in the sounds produced by various instruments, such as singing bowls and gongs. This immersive experience helps reduce stress, anxiety, and promote relaxation.

Individual Sessions

Some sound therapists work one-on-one with clients to address specific health concerns or personal goals. These sessions may include personalized soundscapes tailored to the individual’s needs.

Sound Meditation

Sound meditation combines traditional meditation practices with sound therapy. Participants focus their attention on the sounds of instruments or chanting, allowing them to achieve a deeper state of mindfulness and relaxation.

The Healing Benefits of Sound Healing

Sound therapy offers a wide range of potential benefits for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Let’s explore some of the ways it can promote healing.

Stress Reduction

One of the most well-documented benefits of sound therapy is its ability to reduce stress. The soothing sounds and vibrations can help calm the nervous system, lower cortisol levels, and induce a sense of deep relaxation.

Pain Management

Sound therapy has been used to alleviate various types of pain, including chronic pain and migraines. The vibrations produced by sound instruments can promote pain relief and muscle relaxation.

Improved Sleep

Many people struggle with sleep disorders in our fast-paced world. Sound therapy can help improve sleep quality by calming the mind and promoting a state of relaxation conducive to restful sleep.

Enhanced Mental Clarity and Focus

Sound therapy can also sharpen mental focus and concentration. Brainwave entrainment techniques can help individuals achieve a state of heightened awareness and cognitive clarity.

Integrating Sound Therapy into Your Life

You don’t need to be a sound therapist to benefit from sound therapy. There are numerous ways you can integrate this practice into your daily life for improved well-being.

Self-Care Rituals

Incorporate sound therapy into your self-care routine by listening to soothing music or guided sound meditations.

Mindful Listening

Practice mindful listening by paying close attention to the sounds in your environment. Even everyday sounds can have a calming effect when approached with mindfulness.

Home Environment

Create a harmonious home environment by incorporating sound elements like wind chimes, singing bowls, or calming music.

The Future of Sound Healing

As interest in holistic wellness continues to grow, the future of sound therapy looks promising. Researchers are exploring its potential applications in various fields, from mental health to education and beyond.

Scientific Research

Ongoing scientific studies are shedding light on the precise mechanisms of sound therapy and its clinical applications. This research may lead to more widespread acceptance within the medical community.

Sound Therapy in Education

Gayatri Mantra is one of the most ancient and powerful mantras

The Gayatri Mantra is one of the most ancient and powerful mantras in the Hindu tradition. It is a hymn from the Rigveda, which is one of the oldest texts in the world, dating back to approximately 1500 BCE. The Gayatri Mantra is a prayer to the divine light of the sun, and it is said to have the power to purify the mind, enlighten the soul, and bring one closer to the divine.

The Gayatri Mantra is a Sanskrit mantra consisting of 24 syllables, and it is often chanted during meditation or as part of a daily spiritual practice. It is considered to be a universal prayer, and it is often recited by people of different religions and spiritual paths.

The word “Savitur” refers to the sun god, and the word “Varenyam” means “most excellent” or “desirable.” The phrase is a call to the divine to illuminate the path of the practitioner and to guide them toward enlightenment.

The third part of the mantra, “Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat,” is a prayer for the awakening of the intellect and the illumination of the mind. The word “Bhargo” means “radiance,” and it is a call for the divine light to shine forth and dispel the darkness of ignorance. The phrase “Dheemahi” means “we meditate,” and it is an invitation to the practitioner to focus their mind on the divine. The final phrase, “Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat,” is a prayer for the divine to guide the intellect and to inspire the practitioner towards wisdom.

Annam Brahma Rasam Vishnum Bhokta Devo janardanam Evam Dhyatva Tatha Gyatva Anna dosho na lipyate.

Aanna Brahma Aaso Vishnu sloka Meaning in Hindi, Sanskrit, and English

अन्नम ब्रह्म रसं विष्णुं भोक्ता देवो जनार्दनम् एवम् ध्यातव तथा ज्ञत्व अन्न दोषो न लिप्यते।

Meaning of Mantra:

Food is Brahma, the essence in it is Vishnu, and the one who consumes (enjoys) it is Maheshwara the Lord Himself. If you know this, then any impurities in the food will not become a part of you.

A prayer or invocation is offered before eating. The act of consuming food is considered to be a Yajna (sacrifice) and the offering goes to the divine authority called Jataragni, the digestive fire in the belly. It is that principle that breaks down the food consumed into a form that can be supplied through the blood for the whole body. The creative energy in the food (Annam) is Brahma. The nourishing energy (Rasa) in the body is Vishnu. The transformation of food into pure consciousness is Shiva. If you know this, then any impurities in the food you eat will never become part of you.

This shloka is chanted before eating food so that even while eating, our attention is focused on the food, and we eat it with an awareness of its importance.

While eating our food, we must utter the words, “Annam Brahma” (food is God); Raso Vishnuhu (the essence of food is Vishnu). Food is God. It gets into the body and provides its essence to all the parts of the body. It indeed gets transformed into blood and energy. Bhoktodevo Maheswarah (the one who consumes the food is Maheswarah). This principle teaches wisdom to the whole world. Annam Brahma, Raso Vishnuhu, Bhoktodevo Maheswarah– These three correspond to mind, body, and action, respectively.

Manasyeka Vachasyekam Karmanyekam Mahatmanam

( those whose words, thoughts, and deeds are in complete harmony are noble ones.)

The oneness of thought, deed, and word is ritham.

They represent the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara. The partaker of food is the very embodiment of Siva’s principle. See Annapurna Stotra

The act of eating is considered a yajna (sacrifice), and the offering goes to the divine authority called Jataragni, the digestive fire in the belly. It is this principle that breaks down the food consumed into a form that can be delivered to the entire body through the blood.

The creative energy in the food (Annam) is Brahma. While eating our food, we must utter the words “Annam Brahma” (food is God) and; Raso Vishnuhu (the essence of food is Vishnu). Bhoktodevo Maheswarah (the one who consumes the food is Maheswarah).

Ashtanga Meaning

Ashtanga is a Sanskrit word, where “Asht” means “Eight” and “Anga” means “limbs”, that is, the eight limbs or eight-fold path of yoga. Ashtanga yoga or Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a traditional yoga style that was developed by T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the 20th century.

The style was derived from a system of Hatha yoga described in the ancient text, the Yoga Korunta.

The Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series can be broken down into six series, known as Primary Series (which we will learn about in this blog) Intermediate Series, and Advanced Series A, B, C, and D, which practitioners can progress through at their own pace.

The Ashtanga practice starts with the Yoga Mantra chanting, followed by five Surya Namaskara (sun salutation) A and five B, and then a sequence of poses from the relevant series and a finishing sequence.

In this article, we will be learning about the Primary series. Before moving to the series, let us briefly understand the key principles of every Ashtanga practice, which are as follows:

Breath – Deep and audible Ujjayi breathing (ocean breath, throat breathing) is used during Ashtanga practice.

Drishti – There is a Drishti (Gaze or vision) for each position in the series.

Vinyasa – Vinyasa is the movement from one yoga pose to another, which is regulated by the breathing pattern, in a smooth flow or synchronicity.

Bandhas: Bandhas (energy locks) like Mool, Uddiyana and Jalandhara, and Maha bandhas are involved in order to control prana (vital energy force) and maintain stability.

Daily practice – Practice should be done six days a week with Saturday being the rest day. Women may not practice during menstruation but should consider the days of the new and full moon as rest days.

Ashtanga yoga’s ultimate goal is to create tapas (discipline), in order to cleanse the body and mind and prepare it for higher meditative practices.

This being a vigorous and physically demanding style of yoga, also facilitates building strength and flexibility.

Ashtanga Yoga Mantra

Whether you’ve decided to pursue yoga professionally or for personal benefits, yoga teacher training  in India or Bali will change your life. Just about anyone can benefit from it, not just those you want to have a career in yoga.

You’ll gain a whole new perspective on life and evolve as a human being into someone who is full of self-love and self-control, and compassion and kindness for others. And, let’s be honest. The world could use a whole lot of that right now!

Escaping to India or Bali for a yoga teacher training retreat will have a deep and lasting impact on your life. The spiritual, mental, and physical transformation is something close to magical. You will be beginning your journey as a yogi in a calm, composed, happy, and peaceful state of mind.

Yoga isn’t about your external appearance or material things, it’s an internal dialogue. It’s about self-acceptance, a deep connection between the mind and body, and personal growth.

Yoga teacher training in Bali and India are both quite popular because they are beautiful destinations. If you are trying to decide between the two, knowing how they’re similar and different will help you make an informed decision.

You’ll learn the original form of yoga in India.

The ancient art of yoga originated in India. India’s original form of yoga is believed to have been practiced there as far back as 3000 B.C.E. This form of yoga has survived the ages and its controlled breathing, hymns, mantras, and rituals have continued to evolve and grow.

Having the opportunity to learn from the authentic and original source of yoga is an incredible blessing. And it only makes sense to learn the original form before you begin practicing more modern forms and skills.

Becoming a yoga instructor in India gives you the credibility of authenticity and purity of knowledge that you can’t claim if you attend training elsewhere.

Your spiritual journey won’t be limited to the time you spend in training.

There’s no question that India is a heavily populated country, and that can be a positive thing for your spiritual journey. That’s because it’s also a country full of very dedicated yogis who live a spiritual lifestyle. Spending your free time among these learned individuals can help you gain wisdom you’re not likely to find at any other education center.

Of course, Bali is also a culture laden with spiritual awareness. Their timeless culture is one of gratitude, mindfulness, and beauty. You’ll find beautiful temples everywhere, nestled in with the beauty of surrounding nature. The Balinese Hindu teachings can be felt in just about every aspect of daily life.

Having the opportunity to explore either country is amazing.

Attending the Arogya Yoga School in Rishikesh, India provides the perfect opportunity to explore the country. You’ll never be bored because of the options for experiencing different cultures and traditions, as well as varied topographical elements- from mountains to beaches- changes in just about every city. On a whole, the country is spiritual, colorful, and exciting.

On the other hand, if you attend yoga teacher training at Bali’s Samiyana Mindfulness center, you’ll experience life at a slower pace. You can explore lush tropical jungles, hike in sacred mountains, or lounge on the beach in your free time.

Having the opportunity to explore either country will be an amazing experience, each in its own way. If you want to relax and unwind, Bali might be more your speed. But if you want to immerse yourself in fascinating, colorful, and spiritual culture and adventure go to India.

You’ll get more from your money with yoga teacher training in India.

You can do so much more for a lot less money with yoga teacher training in India. A 200-hour training course that includes meals and accommodations at India’s Arogya Yoga School will cost you around $1000, while the same type of training is likely to cost twice as much or more in Bali.

So, if you study in India, you’ll not only be learning the original form of yoga in a multicultural country, but you’ll also have the opportunity to explore and experience more new things and cuisines thanks to the lower cost of the program.

The Bottom Line – Differences Between Yoga Training in India vs. Bali

Attending yoga teacher training in Bali or India will be an experience to cherish for the rest of your life. In either location, you’ll have the opportunity to advance your own spiritual, mental, and physical health first, before you help others heal theirs. But, at the end of the day, learning the authentic form of yoga in India at a more affordable price will give you the best value and credibility for your money.
