01

Philosophy of Yin Practice

9 topics

The philosophy of Yin Yoga is based on stillness, surrender, mindfulness, patience and awareness. It encourages practitioners to move away from constant physical effort and to observe the body, breath, sensations and mind with more awareness.

  • History and evolution of Yin Yoga
  • Yin vs. Yang practices
  • The three principles: find an appropriate edge, become still, hold the pose for an appropriate time
  • Difference between Yin Yoga and dynamic yoga
  • Purpose and benefits of Yin Yoga
  • The concept of Qi / Chi
  • Yin and Yang tissues
  • Stillness and meditation
  • Principles of stillness, surrender and awareness
02

Yoga Anatomy and Physiology

13 topics

Yin Yoga anatomy is about understanding how bones, joints, muscles, fascia, connective tissue and individual skeletal differences shape each person's experience of a posture. Rather than a purely aesthetic approach, Yin Yoga takes a functional approach: the goal of the pose matters more than everyone looking the same.

  • Basic skeletal anatomy
  • Joints and joint movement
  • Muscles and connective tissue
  • Fascia
  • Ligaments and tendons
  • Compression and tension
  • Stress, strain and creep
  • Skeletal variation
  • Individual anatomical differences
  • Functional rather than aesthetic alignment
  • Range of motion
  • Mobility vs. flexibility
  • Target areas
03

Yin Yoga Poses

7 topics

Yin Yoga is not about pushing into the deepest pose. Teachers facilitate an appropriate level of sensation, sensitive to individual anatomy, comfort and limitations. For every pose you learn its purpose, target area, functional anatomy, common variations, props, contraindications, modifications, rebound, typical holding time and verbal cueing.

  • Hip / lower body: Butterfly, Half Butterfly, Dragon, Sleeping Swan, Shoelace, Deer, Frog, Saddle, Square, Dragonfly
  • Spine / back: Caterpillar, Half Caterpillar, Child's Pose, Sphinx, Seal, Melting Heart
  • Banana, Half Banana, Ankle Stretch, Toe Squat, Dangling, Supported Fish
  • Shoulder and arm variations, Puppy / Melting Heart variations
  • Cat Pulling Its Tail, Twisted Root, Supported Bridge
  • Side body, legs and feet, and upper body poses
  • Restorative Yin poses
04

Alignment & Adjustments

10 topics

Learn to use props and adapt every pose so each student can practise Yin Yoga safely — knowing the difference between healthy sensation and pain, and when to back off.

  • Props: bolster, blocks, blankets, straps, wall, sandbags, cushions
  • Appropriate sensation vs. pain
  • Compression vs. tension
  • When to back off
  • Modifying for different body types
  • Knee, hip, spine and shoulder considerations
  • Contraindications
  • Pregnancy considerations
  • Working with beginners
  • Avoiding aggressive adjustments
05

Meditation Practice

6 topics

Meditation helps focus your thoughts. It brings clarity to the mind, calms the emotions and relaxes the body. Rooted in ancient cultures, it builds mindfulness and focus, and is widely used to relieve stress, improve concentration and support holistic health.

  • Introduction of Meditation
  • Meditation according to Sage Patanjali
  • Dharana and Dhyana
  • Preparation for Meditation
  • Obstacles in Meditation
  • Meditative Posture and Mudras
06

Assessment

6 topics

Each student designs and teaches a short Yin Yoga sequence using safe sequencing, appropriate pose selection, props, clear verbal cues, modifications, mindful transitions, appropriate hold times and rebound periods. This builds your confidence to lead a class, apply functional anatomy, respond to individual needs and create a calm, accessible, well-balanced Yin experience.

  • Written assignment
  • Design and teach a short Yin Yoga sequence
  • Pose analysis
  • Sequencing assignment
  • Anatomy / meridian quiz
  • Self-practice journal

Feeling blessed by finding this school and taking the courage to travel to Rishikesh and join the 200YTTC for many reasons. To start, I was always resisting the “Yoga Classes” feeling they weren’t for me, that I was incapable of practicing like others. Until I started my journey with Arogya and learned that the inward journey has nothing to do with others but with myself, find that fire and balance within me…

The best place that will feel like a second home. It’s not a school but a family. They take care of you like it’s your own home. On yoga, Arogya is the best. The level of attention to details is something that anyone can only dream of. 27 days goes off like 28 hours with such a professional conduct and caring attitude. I was gifted to be there and you will meet up some life changing connections. Their weekend getaways are one of its kind with very unique selection of places.

My 200-hour yoga teacher training at Arogya Yoga School was an unforgettable and truly wonderful experience. The time I spent here was simply amazing, and I am incredibly grateful for everything I was able to learn, experience, and take away with me. The teachers are not only highly competent and professional but also incredibly warm-hearted and inspiring. During my time here, I learned so much about yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and the connection between body, mind, and soul. I also learned a great deal about myself and had the opportunity to grow both personally and spiritually. But it is not only the teachers who make this school so special – the staff and the owner are also incredibly kind, warm, and helpful people. From the very first moment, you feel welcome and like part of a small family. I wholeheartedly recommend Arogya Yoga School to anyone looking for a well-founded, inspiring, and unforgettable yoga teacher training. Thank you so much for this wonderful and inspiring time. I will take so many beautiful memories with me and am already looking forward to seeing you all again!

Namaste, I had shifted to rishikesh around an year back following a journey into self transformation..during that time, I would see AROGYA YOGA SCHOOL everyday from my balcony as i ended up renting an apartment in the adjoining lane..finally I decided to join the school for 200hrs yttc..from the first day itself, I experienced a certain warmth and love that I had longed for a while, and a positive sense of community that was missing from my life..everyone one associated with this school has an energy that is heartfelt and healing in their own special ways..it was transformative to meet RAJNEESH JI and AZAD JI, true gems of humans who helped me cope and heal with the school matters aswell as my personal life..SUNITA JI ,who always had a beautiful smile on her face, attending to every query we had..the cooks and cleaners who were attentive to their jobs and our needs in everyway possible..it was a blessing to have met each and everyone.. Now talking bout the school and the structure, the day starts early, as it should..the routine is perfectly set throughout the day with ASANA, PHILOSOPHY, ANATOMY AND ALIGNMENT CLASSES spread out evenly with meals and self study time.. Azad ji asana classes were the highlight of my day, every single day...rajneeshji sound healing sessions were just the icing on the cake, completely relaxing.. Apart from the curriculum, our outing, temple visits, yoga near ganga Mata(2mins walk from school), were all thoroughly enjoyed..the The connections made here are long lasting, and i plan to return to the school for my next 300hrs yttc in the winters..till then I start to make my own practice from all the knowlege sent my way.. I will forever be thankful and grateful for my experience with AROGYA YOGA SCHOOL, and await my future experiences with the AROGYA FAMILY
